Writer - Carlos Parra

Carlos Parra was born is Las Cruces, NM. During his youth he was infatuated with Saturday morning cartoons – Transformers, Voltron, He-man, Thundercats etc. On his eleventh birthday a friend gave Carlos some comic books. One of those comics was the Avengers vs the Lava Men. Although it was not the most acclaimed Avengers story, the book grabbed Parra’s attention. From that moment Carlos knew what he wanted to do. After doodling through much of high school, he attended art school and received an associate’s degree in commercial advertising.

As years passed Carlos Parra’s passion for comics grew as did his love for movies. In 2009 Carlos finished his independent zombie film Dark New World (shot on $1000). Through networking and many talks with Ralph Contreras (his friend and former comic book shop owner), Carlos is now taking DNW to the greatest form of media – Comic Books!!

Ralph Contreras was raised in Las Cruces, NM. On one random weekend during the summer of 1984 his aunt gave him a stack of comic books. She was doing some spring cleaning and luckily for Ralph she thought he would like them. A new world of of great stories with amazing art took Ralph’s imagination. In this life altering stack of comic was Mighty Avengers #242, Secret Wars #1, Amazing Spider-Man #252, and Phoenix The Untold story. From that day on comic books have been a part of Ralph’s life in one way or another.

Ralph graduated from collage with a Bachelors of Fine Arts & Graphic Design. After graduation Ralph fulfilled one of his life long dreams. He opened his own comic book store. He’s been working in Design ever since he closed the doors to the store. Now he’s ready to conquer his #1 dream of creating a comic book. Ralph is teaming up with friend Carlos Parra to work on his ongoing comic based on his zombie film Dark New World.
